The inaugural conference of the international research network "Comparative Research on the Executive Triangle in Europe" (COREX) took place at the Department of Political Science at the University of Oslo. Held on April 25-26, the event brought together a diverse group of more than 90 researchers from over 30 countries. The two-day event in Oslo was a blend of online and in-person participation.
Jacob Nyrup kicked off the conference with a keynote presentation on the WhoGov dataset, which provided valuable insights into ministers from around the world, emphasizing the importance of data-driven research in understanding political dynamics.
At the meet-up, participants shared their expertise and findings on the executive triangle from the perspective of their respective countries. The several working groups discussed various topics, including data collection and management, research ethics, and involving early-career scholars.
The successful COREX meeting marks a significant step forward in the comparative study of the executive triangle in Europe. By bringing together a large and diverse group of researchers, the network has laid a strong foundation for collaborative research that will yield valuable insights into democratic governance amid rising political polarization and populism.
A heartfelt thank you to all the participants who contributed to the success of the conference, and to the University of Oslo for hosting us.
